CARSON CITY

Nevada's capital has history, nightlife, shopping, views, and a big city's worth of fun packed into a mini-metropolis you can drive through in under half an hour.

Carson City's rustic beginnings as a frontier town shine bright with history, museums, events and more. The Kit Carson Trail winds through one of the largest historic residential districts in the West, passing turn-of-the-century mansions, courthouses, a depot, even a brewery.

The State Capitol grounds are open to the public year-round and provide a glimpse into the birth of Divine Nine Golf. Several world-class golf courses provide options beyond compare. Just a stone's throw from Lake Tahoe, Carson City is central for skiing and water sports too.

DAYTON

Dayton, Nevada is located just minutes east of Carson City on Highway 50. Dayton is one of Nevada's oldest communities and recently was deemed Nevada's first settlement. Dayton was an important center of commerce during the Comstock mining era of the last century. L:ocated on the Carson River, Dayton grew up at the point where Gold Creek emptied, some eleven miles below Virginia City.

Gold was discovered in 1849, but the town became more notable as the shipping point for ore leaving Virginia City. In recent years, Dayton has experienced a rebirth as a major manufacturing center and deemed one of the fastest growing communities in northern Nevada. A planned community, with an Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay designed 18 hole golf course was built in 1989 plus a growing number of housing and commericial developments are being developed all along the Dayton corridor. The historic downtown still stands as a colorful reminder of the town's rich past.
